PRESENTATION
surrealist painting
Celestial pablum, Remedios Varo Urange
-Remedios Varo Uranga, Celestial Pablum, 1858
The first feeling.

The first thing that catches my eyes is the cage. It's like a cage on some spire, on a tower shrouded in darkness. The next thing I noticed is the woman in the chair that looks tired. She is sitting on a small stool in a small space. She turned the handle with one hand and fed the moon with the other. She can't seem to rest for a moment. The moon is in a cage. It's like a baby in a crib.
The character be mentioned is joining of objects in unusual combinations. This is no ordinary place and no ordinary content. It's creative that people don't usually think about it. It's kind of a wonderful combination. It is full of wonderful fantasy, but is seems to be real. Real stool, real chair, real tower and real woman. When they are combined, they are fun and unreal.
The meaning I think.
The whole picture has a melancholy and narrow quality. It makes people feel uncomfortable. I think this cage represents the injustice and exploitation of women by society. In the tower they feed the moon, just like mothers feed their baby. It seems that women are supposed to be able to simply reproduce and raise their children. In the old society of restricted thinking, most people thought so. The portrait represents the artist's dissatisfaction with this phenomenon and calls for women's rights.
Why I like it.
The first reason why I like it is probably a little strange. The whole picture is the dark and covered in darkness. I felt a woman's helplessness and sadness in it. I like it so much not just because it's good painting, but because this picture tells something to me. In the nineteenth century, when women were inferior. I can know that the artist was interested in the ancestral and mystical and strived to create a collective feminine consciousness and free themselves from patriarchal oppression. Women were always associated with the moon. Perhaps this woman is also a symbol of a great mother. The moon may be a symbol of her child or companion. The colour of this painting is oppressive. The painter seems to be telling us that everyone has to do something for women's place in society. I respect and admire this artist and her painting.
FOOD
Tteokbokki-- Korean street food
떡볶이

What is tteokbokki?
Tteobokki is a beloved Korean rice cakes dish is made with garaetteok, a cylinder-shaped white rice cakes. This spicy rice cakes dish is enormously popular as a street food and also often enjoyed at home.
Unlike gungjung tteokbokki, which has been around for hundreds of years, the red spicy tteokbokki has a relatively short history. It was developed in1953, the year the Korean War ended, by a woman named Ma Bok-rim in the Sindang-dong neighborhood in Seoul. The chewy rice cake in a spicy gochujang sauce instantly became popular as an affordable comfort snack.
How to cook?
Ingredients:
1. 1 pound of cylinder shaped rice cakes, bought or homemade.
2. 4 cups of water
3. 7 large size dried anchovies, with heads and intestines removed
4. 6x8 inch dried kelp
5. 1/3 cup hot pepper paste
6. 1 tablespoon hot pepper flakes
7. 1 tablespoon sugar
8. 3 green onions, cut into 3 inch long pieces
9. 2 hard boiled eggs, shelled
10. 1/2 pound fish cakes
Directions:
1. Add the water, dried anchovies, and dried kelp to a shallow pot or pan.
2. Boil for 15 minutes over medium high heat without the lid.
3. Combine hot pepper paste, hot pepper flakes, and sugar in a small bowl. Remove the anchovies and kelp from the pot and add the rice cake, the mixture in the bowl, the green onion, and the optional fish cakes and hard boiled eggs. The stock will be about 3/2 cups.
4. Stir gently with a wooden spoon when it starts to boil. Keeps stirring until the rice cake turns soft and the sauce thickens and looks shiny, which should take about 10-15 minutes. If the rice cake is not soft enough, add more water and continue stirring until soften. When you use freshly made rice cake, it takes shorter time. If you use frozen rice cake, thaw it out and soak in cold water to soften it before cooking.
5. Remove from the heat and serve hot.

Why I like it?
The most important reason must be that it is delicious and slightly spicy.A small portion, very filling, and can be found on the streets of South Korea.I often make it at home. It's very simple and portable. As the national food of South Korea, there are several fried rice cake shops on almost every street.Usually cooks add various foods, such as fish cakes, eggs, and some vegetables. It's almost a staple, but small portions of fried rice cakes are also eaten as an after-dinner snack.
